Ingredients
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 4 sheets of nori seaweed
- 1/2 lb fresh sushi-grade tuna thinly sliced
- Soy sauce for dipping
- Wasabi paste optional
- Pickled ginger optional
Instructions
- Cook the sushi rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, let it cool to room temperature.
- Place a sheet of nori seaweed on a bamboo sushi mat or a clean surface.
- Moisten your hands with water to prevent sticking, then take a handful of sushi rice and spread it evenly over the nori, leaving about half an inch of space at the top edge.
- Place thinly sliced tuna in a straight line across the center of the rice.
- Carefully lift the edge of the bamboo mat closest to you and begin rolling the sushi away from you, using the mat to shape it into a tight cylinder.
- Continue rolling until the entire sheet of nori is wrapped around the rice and tuna.
- Use a sharp knife to slice the sushi roll into 6-8 pieces.
- Repeat steps 2-7 with the remaining ingredients.
- Serve the tuna sushi rolls with soy sauce for dipping. Wasabi paste and pickled ginger can also be served on the side for added flavor.
