- 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts optional
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
In a microwave-safe bowl or on the stovetop, melt the butter until it's completely liquid.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
Sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) into the batter, distributing them evenly.
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 1 hour. Once cooled, cut into squares or rectangles.
Serve the brownies on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
